The text you read is never transmitted. Article content is extracted and displayed entirely on your own device. It is never sent to FocusFlow, and never sent to any third party.
Your preferences, via Chrome's storage.sync:
These sync between your own signed-in Chrome profiles through your Google account. They are not transmitted to FocusFlow.
The extension also uses storage.session to hand extracted text
from the page to the reader panel. That data lives in your browser's memory
for the current session only and is never sent over the network.
FocusFlow Reader offers a limited number of free reads, and unlimited reading with a paid subscription. Enforcing that requires an account. When you connect your account, the following is transmitted between the extension and our servers:
Your first read requires no account at all. It is tracked only by a counter stored locally on your device.
When you click Read This Page or use Click to Select, the extension reads visible text from the page you are currently on so it can display that text one word at a time. This processing happens entirely on-device.
We use Clerk for account authentication and Stripe for subscription billing. FocusFlow never receives or stores your payment card details. Neither provider receives the content you read.
activeTab — lets the extension read text from the page you are actively viewing, but only when you click the extension icon. It cannot read pages you have not opted into.scripting — used with activeTab to load the reader into the current page on demand, only after you invoke the extension there.storage — stores your preferences and your authentication token.sidePanel — powers the optional Side Panel reading mode.host_permissions for app.focusflowreader.app — lets the extension check your account status with our own API. It grants no access to any other site.Your account record (email, read count, subscription status) is retained while your account exists. To delete it, email us at the address below and we will remove your account and its associated data. Signing out of the extension removes the stored authentication token from your device immediately.
The extension is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
